Fellowship
The Bible speaks of Christians meeting together in a locality as being in fellowship with one another, thus forming the church in that locality. Fellowship is open to genuine born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who have given testimony to their faith in the waters of baptism and follow the Bible’s teaching regarding the conduct of church members.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
ACTS 2:42
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.ACTS 2:38
Baptism by immersion into water is a New Testament requirement for every new believer in Christ and is a testimony that the candidate for baptism is identifying themselves with the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Romans chapter 6 explains this more fully.
Church fellowship is available to the baptised believer and following a private interview by the elders of the church and the acceptance of the other church members, that individual is received into the full fellowship of the local church and takes the responsibilities of being in church fellowship with all its privileges and obligations in serving God.
